Electrical energy is something that every American needs for everyday life. Energy is a chemical source that comes in many different ways. Energy comes in different forms, such as coal and solar. Coal is a non-renewable energy source, which means once it is used or burned, Solar is a renewable energy source which means we don’t have to worry about not having enough. Both resources contribute to Americans everyday life, such as heating, cooling, and lighting.Coal produces 80% of electricity used in the United States. Coal is a primary energy source that is non-renewable. Both Kinetic and Potential energy found in coal is in the form of chemical energy. It is most commonly transformed into electricity and manufacturing. Coal has the disadvantage of being non-renewable because once it is gone or burned you cannot reuse it. It is mostly mined in Wyoming, which makes up 47% of the coal produced in the United States.Solar powered photovoltaic (PV) panels convert the sun’s rays into electricity by exciting electrons and silicone cells using the photons of light from the sun. Solar energy is found world wide, when the sun comes out. It gives us electricity, hot water, heat, and light, but if the solar panels break, it would cost a lot of money to repair. The solar industry creates many jobs in the US. Coal, unlike solar, produces 79x more energy than solar. One major disadvantage of solar is that when the sun sets, every house or business does not have the solar energy needed to power their house or business. It takes 79 solar workers to produce the same amount of power as one coal worker. In an ever evolving search for energy, two sources are coal and solar. Both of which are stable and reliable. Both have provided millions of jobs for Americans and supplied countless hours of energy. Coal and Solar are most likely going to be the main resources in the future. We will invest $3.7 trillion dollars in solar. Research shows that by 2040 , Coal will account for 44% of global power. Solar on the other hand is a huge deal worldwide. “Solar is already booming worldwide.” In conclusion, coal is a good source to use for heating, lighting, and cooling our homes. It is a good resource for America to use, it gives us many jobs, and mining it has been safer. Solar, gives millions of Americans jobs, is clean, and is renewable. Solar is good for the environment so there is no pollution. I think we should use Solar energy instead of Coal because it is clean, renewable, and it provides millions of jobs.
