SAP a German multinational software corporation that makes
enterprise software to manage business operations and customer
relations. SAP is headquartered in Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, with
regional offices in 130 countries. In our department, we are constantly
using this software for monthly reports and also to extract significant
information regarding the four businesses sectors and our subsidiaries in Latin
America. Furthermore, our main job is to make analysis throughout the year
concerning how well or bad the company is doing. In order to gain an advantage,
my teammates are frequently outputting information from this software to give
our four business sectors and the headquarters a faster feedback regarding our
financial situation.

In our
department, we are constantly using this software for monthly reports and also
to extract significant information regarding the four businesses sectors and
our subsidiaries in Latin America. Furthermore, we can frequently extract
results straight to Excel in short amount of time or even make graphics inside
of the software. However, the headquarters in Germany usually lock that
information by the end of every month and that’s why our team end up analyzing
the results through Excel.

The main
objective of this software is to make our monthly reports to the headquarters
works very smoothly and quickly. Throughout this software, the financial area
of my company could save a huge amount of time since SAP gives us the option of
a fast extraction and input of information or even analyzing our results inside
of the application. Therefore, we can say that avoiding the use of many excel
sheets in our monthly reports is definitely one the biggest strengths of this
software. Also, this application works very well with excel, which eases the
input and output of information between these two important tools.

I would
say that even though the entire company can have accesses to this smart
software, the main users are the employees who work in the financial department
of our four business sectors and the central controlling area because they are
constantly having to build reports concerning about the Brazilian macroeconomic
situation, and this is only possible with the help of the SAP software.
Therefore, our financial and controlling department requires a special
attention with the speed of their desktops and laptop in order to make
everything happen as quickly as possible.

S/4HANA Finance is a comprehensive set of financial management and
accounting solutions, covering financial planning and analysis, accounting
and financial close, treasury and financial risk management, collaborative
finance operations, and enterprise risk and compliance management powered
by the SAP HANA in-memory database. Designed for the office of the CFO,
these solutions remove the traditional boundaries between transactional,

on-the-fly analysis, across all dimensions of financial
data. Although SAP S/4HANA Finance covers the entire financial management
portfolio, there are significantly improved or new innovations available in

into one universal journal. It abolishes totals, indices, and other pre-defined
aggregates, and relies on line items as a single source of truth. Fixed

all valuations are posted in real time to ensure correct values from the

nearly all businesses. SAP’s application software foundation is built on the
concepts of specialization and integration. Each software component or
application within the SAP family of products and services meets a particular
need, facilitating day-to-day financial and resource management (SAP Enterprise
Resource Planning, or ERP), addressing product lifecycle planning
requirements (SAP Product Lifecycle Management, or PLM),
supporting internal company procurement (SAP Supplier
Relationship Management, or SRM), interconnecting different systems to ease
integration headaches (SAP NetWeaver Process Integration, or
SAP NetWeaver PI), enabling customer relationship management (SAP Customer

SAP HANA® platform permits online transaction processing and nline analytical
processing workloads using a single data copy on a single platform. It stores
data in high-speed memory, organizes it in columns, and partitions and
distributes it among multiple servers. This delivers faster queries that
aggregate data more efficiently while avoiding costly full-table scans,
materialized views, and analytic indexes.

HANA helps ensure compliance with all requirements for the atomicity,
consistency, isolation, and durability (ACID) standards. A two-phase commit
protocol protects atomicity, while multiversion concurrency control and
distributed transactions help guarantee consistency. A built-in transaction
manager safeguards isolation, and the logger provides durability by writing
commit-log entries to disk.

SAP HANA dynamic tiering software, you can keep data either in-memory or on the
disk in columnar format. No data is duplicated. In addition, multistore
partitioned tables allow you to define a single table that can span across disk
and memory and support data aging using time selection with range, hash-range,
and range-range partitioning. These capabilities allow you to process large
data volumes at the right price and performance levels. The amount of data you
can process in SAP HANA is not limited by the size of the memory in the system.
Since multistore and disk tables are native to SAP HANA, management, encryption,
backup, and recovery functions are the same as with in-memory tables.
In-memory, multistore, and disk tables can be joined while accessing data, and
table storage location can be changed at any time.

5. Description of how the business will integrate the technology

has partnered with the Bosch Group to help customers master Internet of Things.
SAP announced it has formed a strategic partnership with Bosch for the Internet
of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0. As long time partners, both companies
want to expand their collaboration on cloud technologies and software. Their
joint approach promises to speed up manufacturing and logistics processes and
increase the safety and quality of products and services for customers.

joint agreement between SAP and Bosch aims to accelerate manufacturing and
logistics as well as improve product and service quality and safety. The goal
of the partnership is to process large quantities of data for IoT applications
in real time, using SAP HANA and the Bosch IoT cloud. Bosch and SAP will also
work to combine their software and cloud expertise in the future. Bosch IoT
services will be available on SAP HANA Cloud Platform as a means to
connect different devices and provide secure and efficient connectivity for
vehicles, manufacturing machinery or tools with open platforms.

6. Integrations of the technology into the business needs to clearly
verify           rational for specified
technology, as well as a recovery plan in the event of    disaster

Among various disaster recovery
options, cloud technology has played an important role, especially for small and
medium sized businesses. Disaster recovery options give businesses a
flexibility to choose from and plan accordingly. Disaster recovery in SAP
environment refers to the copying of the database log files.Information managed
by SAP is stored in the database. Consequently, any change to the database is
represented in the logs. When you send log files to a remote server allocated
for disaster recovery, you are able to retrieve all the information when

replicates the entire HANA appliance to another site. To replicate HANA from
the main datacenter to a disaster recovery site, you need two operational HANA
database, one at the main datacenter and the other at the recovery site.

The advantage of using this method is
the excellent speed and performance offered by HANA replication. However, it is
always better to use asynchronous solution during replication to ensure HANA
database function is not interrupted. Though expensive, HANA-specific disaster
recovery is the best recovery option often used by customers already running SAP

8. Problems/limitations of the information system.

in SAP project updates are not imported into the process application. Concerning
the symptoms, I would say that some updates that are made to an SAP project
in SAP Solution Manager might not be imported into the process
application in IBM® Process Designer. Therefore the causes of the import
of updates to an SAP project in SAP Solution Manager is done
according to the SAP blueprint project. If an inconsistency that is related to
an element in the change record is detected, the inconsistency is not processed
and, therefore, is not imported through the Import Process App operation. Unfortunately,
no workaround is available to resolve the problem. (IBM, 2017)

into Process Center. Regarding the symptoms, the name of the process
application that is created when you import an SAP project from SAP
Solution Manager into IBM® Process Center for the first time is
a seven-character acronym. Therefore the causes happens when an SAP project is
imported from SAP Solution Manager into Process Center for
the first time, the name of the SAP project is automatically truncated to an
acronym whose length cannot exceed seven characters. The seven-character
acronym is automatically assigned to the process application created
in Process Designer. Inopportunely, no workaround is available to resolve
the problem. (IBM, 2017)

a BPD that is being edited by other users. In regards to the symptoms, when you
export a business process definition (BPD) that is being edited by other users
from IBM® Process Designer to SAP Solution Manager, the export
succeeds, but the update to the change record in the process fails if the
process editors select to overwrite the other users’ changes with their own
changes. This is caused by a change history in the BPD records the changes that
are made in Process Designer. This change record is used to merge the
process changes in SAP Solution Manager without overwriting the SAP
process. After the export, the change record in the tip application process is
updated. When you export a process that is being edited by other users who choose
to overwrite other users’ changes with their own, the changes that are exported
cannot be removed from the change record. Resolving the problem, this is a
known limitation for which no workaround is available. To avoid data from being
lost and not recorded in the change record of the process, you might want to
stop editing the BPD before you initiate the snapshot export. (IBM, 2017)

9. Information processed by the information system

IDoc is an SAP object that carries
data of a business transaction from one system to another in the form of
electronic message. IDoc is an acronym for Intermediate Document.
The purpose of an IDoc is to transfer data or information from SAP to other
systems and vice versa.  The transfer from SAP to non-SAP system is done
via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) subsystems whereas for transfer between
two SAP systems, ALE is used.

IDoc can be triggered in SAP system
or in EDI subsystem. This depends on the direction in which IDoc is sent and is
called as Inbound IDoc and Outbound IDoc accordingly. In case of outbound flow,
IDoc is triggered in SAP through document message control which is then sent to
EDI subsystem. EDI converts the data from IDoc into XML or equivalent format
and then sends the data to partner system through Internet.

10. Inputs and Outputs

Input and output tax is calculated on
revenue or expense items (base amount). The tax amounts are posted to separate
tax accounts and refunded by the tax office (input tax) or paid to the tax
office (output tax). The tax percentage rates vary from country to country and
are determined when you define the tax codes.The tax amount is determined as a
percentage of the base amount, meaning that the tax amount is included in the
invoice amount. Given a tax rate of 15 percent, the invoice amount or the total
of the expense or revenue items and the tax items together would be 115
percent. To calculate the tax amount, the invoice amount is divided by 115 and
multiplied by 15. The result is an amount corresponding to 15 percent of the
base amount.

The tax amounts are automatically
posted to tax accounts. The system always posts the amounts to the side of the
account to which the other G/L account amounts are also posted. The
input tax can be completely or partially non-deductible. This part cannot be
claimed from the tax office. The amount can be posted to a separate expense
account, or it can be distributed to the G/L account and asset line items.

12. Conclusion

In conclusion, I would say
that Without SAP systems in place, many businesses rely on multiple software
programs and data-logging platforms to enter numbers and generate reports,
making it difficult for business management to see the “big picture.” As a
result, a great deal of time is wasted in trying to combine data from different
departments into a cohesive report. With an SAP system, this becomes completely
unnecessary and employees are able to focus on more important tasks.
